WHAT IS AN ULTRASOUND?
An ultrasound is a safe, risk-free examination involving the use of sound waves to build up images of the body. A small hand-held probe is pressed against the skin surface using an ultrasound Gel and moved in different directions in order to take and store images of the organs and structures within the body.
There is no patient preparation for this examination.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE EXAMINATION?
You will be invited to lie down on an examination couch and loosen your clothing to allow the sonographer to scan your scrotum. The examination will take approximately 15 minutes after which time you will be free to get dressed and go. There are no side-effects.
If you have any additional questions the sonographer who does your examination will be only too pleased to answer them.
Please contact our office on 01872 555755 if you would like to request a male sonographer for this scan.
